All things considered, my husband is a nice guy. Me too. A nice gal, I mean.
But even the nicest of all people has things that can totally irritate them.
So today, I share with you:
10 things that irritate my husband and me.
1. The sign at the register that says 10 items or LESS. It's supposed to be MORE, because items can be counted. If you can count it, MORE is the proper term. If you can't count it, but you can measure it, then the proper term would be Less. Basic grammar, I think.
2. People who don't use their car signal lights!
3. Pedestrians who think they own the parking lot and walks right in the middle of the aisle at a snail's pace.
4. Line cutters.
5. Carts left in a parking spot.
6. Taxes.
7. Paper jams when printing.
8. Door-to-door pitchers (products, religion, or otherwise).
9. Parents who let their young kids walk behind them. So unsafe!
10. Obamacare making us anxious to get the mail everyday because we could be next to lose (or raise the premium for) our medical insurance! Aaargh!

ReplyDeleteSo...to add to your door to door pitchers...those who stand in front of grocery store doors to sell cookies, popcorn and pies irritate me for the simple fact that I don't like to feel guilty when I have to say 'no' to a very cute selling pitch, or that I have to speed into the other door when they're not looking to avoid the guilty feeling.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I always put my cart in the rack or take it back into the store. Leaving it in the middle of nowhere is just plain irresponsible...especially on a windy day.
gggrrrr.....I put away 2 additional shopping carts left abandoned in the parking lot the other night - as with my own. Really - how hard is it!? And this is a small town - the parking lot is not that big.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when hubby lets the kids run 150 feet AHEAD of us! that's just as unsafe. what are you going to do from way back there? And they can't hear you at all. Just what the neighbours enjoy I am sure; us hollering down the street at our kids.
For #1, I believe grammatically, it should be "10 items or fewer". For me, we seldom go to the store if we need fewer than 10 items. It's a waste...:)
ReplyDeleteFor #2, I use blinkers when there's someone close to me who needs to know what I'm doing. If I can see facial features in my mirror, I know you need to know that.
Agreed on all the others. For #8, I hate phone calls asking for donations. If you do, they never leave you alone. Once, my wife thought the woman on the phone was so sincere, she told my wife "You're an angel", and it was for children's cancer. My wife committed $20, and then they started calling every month. And we don't answer the door if we're not expecting anyone...since it's just us, it's easy to do.
Regarding Obamacare, this year, my company says they're not changing anything. Next year, we don't know yet. But we do know that whatever we get over and above what Obama offers is taxable as income. Obamacare really makes me mad.
An addition for me is all politicians. I don't even like the president of my HOA.
Wow. They call every month? That's too much, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnd your HOA pres., that's too funny. I haven't been to a single HOA meeting around here. I just pay (electronically) and mumble under my breath about how we shouldn't have to pay. THey're incresing it $10 starting this month! Can you believe it?!
shopping carts....right? and what about the ones that people do take to the "return here" place, but leave it OUTSIDE the fence-thingy??!! seriously, you couldn't push it in a few more inches??? aaaarrrgghhh!!!

Yes! grocery store door people! I always have to look and see if I can get around to the other door just so I wouldn't have to walk by them... Is that bad? lol

ReplyDeleteI believe it. Anytime there's a governing body, and they decide to collect a tax (and that's what HOA fees are, if you think about it), it will never go down. Ours, when the housing bubble burst, and people couldn't pay for their home and their HOA, stopped paying their HOA, and so the HOA raised the fees. I totally get it that we have to pay to keep our streets nice. And the water pipes underneath the streets, and so on...but have you ever heard the term "mission creep"? It just grows. Gov't never shrinks. In fact, my BIL down in little Saigon, spent 30 years as an Army officer, retired, and contracted back to the govt. That was 20 years ago. He's still working, and every time he threatens to retire, they sweeten the deal. All I can say is "at least he's generous".
