I'm not ashamed to say it. I lived in a time when people still watched movies in video tapes. When you had to push this button called "Rewind" after watching the movie. When a 3-hour long movie took two tapes - so you had to stop in the middle and put in the second one.
VHS. Remember those?
Here are just a few of mine I found stashed in my parents' house. I can't believe I watched these movies like that. So ages ago!

Please join me for Time Travel Tuesday (& Almost Wordless Wednesday) link-up! It’s sort of like Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday, except it’s on Tuesdays and accompanies a post.
And I would sure appreciate if you linked back to me, but you don't have to. Please spread the word, too!

HA! I have ET, Braveheart and Titanic too! Also, SO MANY Disney movies -- my kids are actually watching Aladdin right now. We only keep a small TV/VCR combo unit near the kitchen and they can watch it while I cook dinner some nights. You cannot get TV channels or anything on it.
ReplyDeleteI had company the past 36 hours so I have not had a chance to do any blogging! I have a volleyball picture that I scanned and hopefully I can get a few minutes to do the post!
I just found our stash of VHS tapes in the study today , in ours was mostly of Rowan Atkinson in Black Adder. No classics like ET unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteWow.. Indeed ages ago. Now days you say Rewind and they look at you like what??? ..
ReplyDeleteFunny to say that.
Anyway, have a great rest of the week!
I remember VHS well I also remember the price in the early days ! tape would cost a fortune they did drop very quick once they became common though, wasn't the rewind a pain heheh!
ReplyDeleteHave a tapetastic week & thanks for rewinding by :-)
omg, I absolutely remember all that 'great fun'! lol
ReplyDeleteI remember all these things, too. All I can say is thank heavens for DVDs, Blu-rays, and digital streaming ~ all wonderful medias! Happy #WW!
ReplyDeleteI even saw some films in betamax tapes =)
ReplyDeleteWow, brings back memories. I used to have the collection of VHS. Actually, it reminds me of simpler times.
ReplyDeleteOoh. We had Disney movies too. Where are those now? Probably in my dad's garage. Anywho, TV/VCR combo! Hey, that's another flashback thing! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd no worries about the linky. It's up on Wednesdays too. ;)
Rowan Atkinson is Mr. Bean???!!! I just "googled" the show because I had no idea what it was. Is it British then? Oh my goodness, I never even thought to think that Mr. Bean's name might not be Mr. Bean!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! It actually happened when I said it to my 9 year old daughter! It was kinda funny and deppressing at the same time! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the price! I remember waiting until I could them "Pre-viewed." Heh. And as for rewinding...I think we even bought that little machine that just rewinds your tape like at lightning speed! I believe ours was designed to look like a car. Remember those? ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat fun, yes! Haha! There was a different feeling in using a VHS than a DVD nowadays, don't you think so?
ReplyDeleteOh you are talking to a techie geek here! I love all those medias too! But VHS is just...so...vintage! It was kinda cool!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Betamax. Not sure I had a chance to use those! ;)
ReplyDeleteIn a way, VHS is much simpler to use. Except some people would say, not the setting up of the time on the actual VHS player though! Ha!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!! Thanks for hosting!!! Looks like a bunch of neat books!!
ReplyDeleteTime changes and boy o does technology, changing so fast its hard to keep up with. Thanks for #WW
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
Yes, it definitely does so too fast! It really wasn't that long ago, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteThey do look like a bunch of neat books, don't they? I think it's the thickness of them that gives that illusion. Great observation!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have ALL the Disney movies in VHS. I'm not even sure my youngest knows what a VHS tape even is! lol
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the Disney movies on the big screen, my dad always let us get the movie on VHS! I really need to go look in his garage to find those gems! And I think you ought to let your youngest give the VHS a try. It might fun to see her reaction!
ReplyDeleteYes Mr Bean! Very British!
