This one of the proudest moments of my married life - when my husband finally received his Ph.D. in Physical Therapy. If you know anyone who has pursued a doctorate in anything, it's almost no question that they worked to the bone 'til the end.
At that time, I was working to support his education, our first child's education, and our family needs. I didn't complain because it's what married couples do - support each other and pick up where the other can't. And the ball will switch courts, many times in a marriage's lifetime, so there's no point in "keeping scores" either. I was happy to do it. And I was happy he did it.
If he ever changes his mind again, I will do whatever it takes, again, to help him (and our family) through it. In a heartbeat.

Definitely part of the marriage deal... and good for you guys for supporting one another in fulfilling your dreams. My hubby could not do his job AND have a family if it was not for me being home. The shift work and long hours is just killer. and the stress....oye my word. The flip side though is, I can never take opportunities right now because his job is always in the way. And babysitter won't work because he's gone at night often. but, my dream right now - was to be home with the kids and I got my wish.... so my time will be another season perhaps.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean. And I like that last part you said - about "my time [being] another season perhaps." I feel like that applies to me too. Because I definitely feel like I'm not done with the world, sometimes. Know what I mean?
DeleteWow! That really is a life changing moment. You must have felt so proud and probably both of you ready for that next stage of life together!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely was. Still, the details of the day is mostly a blur now. But I still remember the feeling....so happy. ;)
DeleteYep, you know what marriage is...graces for both of you...all of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
